Illustrated portrait of Ian Whitaker

Spokane, Washington

I run the stockroom and receiving crew at a hardware and outdoor-supply distribution warehouse outside Spokane, which is a less glamorous job than it sounds and also exactly where the name of this site comes from. Most nights I'm either two chapters into something or setting up a game on the card table in the spare room, which stays set up between sessions because folding it down and back up again is its own kind of chore I've decided isn't worth it.

Grew up in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, about forty minutes east, and moved to Spokane for the warehouse job eight or nine years back. Got into board games through a coworker named Marcus, who still runs the Wednesday group most weeks. Reads on lunch breaks in the break room, physical books only, and has never once finished a game I rated below three stars without saying so.

Started this site because I kept typing up notes after game nights anyway and figured they might as well go somewhere. Everything here is something I bought and finished. No review copies, no affiliate links, no companion app tracking any of it.

Everything reviewed here I bought myself, no review copies and no affiliate links. If it's rated on this site, I finished it the same way anyone else would have to.
